A Mother's Day History Lesson
Or should it be her-story?
Be your best inside and out with Be Well Weekly, your resource for actionable wellness tips, tools and information.
Honoring Roots, Recharging Ourselves
Did you know Mother's Day in the U.S. began as a call for peace and community care? In the 1870s, social activist Julia Ward Howe envisioned it as a day for women to unite against war and advocate for healing. Later, Anna Jarvis campaigned to honor her mother’s caregiving legacy, leading to the first official celebration in 1914.
Over time, the day became more commercial—but its roots are deeply tied to nurturing, connection, and collective well-being.
Wellness Reflection:
Whether you're a mother, have one, miss one, or know one—this is your reminder to pause and honor the role of caregiving in all its forms. And yes, that includes you caring for you.
This week, carve out a few minutes to nourish yourself. A walk in nature, a deep breath, a handwritten note of gratitude—small acts with a big impact.
Because being well starts with being whole. 💗
